Update from Peru
Update from Peru
Separate from the educational/nutritional programme Step Forward developed and funded here in the Sacred Valley, we have funded and worked at two separate projects in partnership with Sweet Child Peru.
The first is an Environmental Education Centre.
This will become a self-sustaining resource for local children and adults, aiming to provide free education for 3600 students annually. It will use open-source examples of low-tech solutions to local environmental issues, with the aim of creating rural, agricultural prosperity in the Sacred Valley. The focuses are:
- Waste Management Solutions
- Food Security
- Clean Energy
- Water Security
Once built, private schools and tourists will pay to help fund free education for local children from public schools and workshops for the local community. It will also further support the running of Sweet Child Peru, making the organisation more self-sustainable.
Please check out my LinkedIn post on why I support such a project: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7071873591474020352/
The second is building and resourcing two libraries at the two schools where Sweet Child Peru works.
These will give the children access to additional educational resources, such as computers, books, art supplies and games. It also provides an additional space the school can teach in, and a space that the Sweet Child Peru programme can work in.
Both are one-off investments in the infrastructure of the organisation, enabling it to become more secure and self-sustainable into the future.
Thank you, as always, to those who have partnered with me in this, and to you all for your support.
