Peru to Nicaragua

The two months working in partnership with Sweet Child Peru were incredible. Step Forward has built on the relationships and experience I gained last year. In our time there, we were able to develop and deliver a nutritional and educational programme, provide resources for two libraries, and begin construction on an environmental education centre. We leave with a sense of accomplishment and with greater motivation to see the infrastructure and programmes of Sweet Child Peru further expand, impacting even more children and communities in the Sacred Valley into the future.

Step Forward arrived in Nicaragua two weeks ago, working alongside The Hope Project International in the city of Matagalpa. I have joined in food and clothing distributions, and education and ministry programmes.

It has been an honour to be a small part of the vital support that The Hope Project provides to the poorest in the city, and to witness how their holistic approach engages with the multi-faceted needs poverty presents.

Step Forward will continue to volunteer here in Nicaragua for the next three weeks before heading to Panama.
